Summer Camp Scholarships

At Techsplorers we believe that every child should have the opportunity to discover the joys of science, technology, and engineering. Therefore, we are proud to partner with the wonderful Scott-Free Organization and Durham Academy to provide full and partial need-based scholarships for our summer camps. See below for more information on their application processes.

Scott-Free

Click here to view and complete the Scott-Free scholarship application. The application process for 2018 is currently open and applications will be accepted until Jan 31st. Please note that this year only camps located at Montessori Community School and Cary Academy are eligible for Scott-Free scholarships, as the other sites process their registrations independently from us.

Important reminder for returning Scott-Free campers! Returning campers are required to complete the following in order to be eligible for scholarship consideration in a subsequent year:

1. Compose and submit an essay detailing your recent summer camp experience (Due: Sept 10, 2017).
2. Perform a minimum of 4 hours of community service.
3. Compose and submit an essay about the community service experience (Due: Jan 5, 2018).

Durham Academy

If you are planning for your child to attend camp at Durham Academy this summer and would like to be considered for a scholarship/discount, there are two ways to go about it. First, if your child participated in the reduced lunch program, simply send the DA Summer Programs office a copy of the letter from your school system confirming their particiption.

The second option is to apply for financial aid through TADS.com (used by DA to grant aid for school tuition). If you have already used the TADS program this year, there is no extra charge and you simply need to select “Durham Academy Summer Programs” as the program you are interested in. After DA receives the report they will let you know if you’ve been accepted. If you haven’t used TADS before, there is a $34 processing fee. However, if you aren’t granted aid, DA will discount your first DA camp by $34 to minimize your cost.

If you have any questions about anything related to DA summer camps or scholarships, please visit www.da.org and feel free to contact Dan Gilson or Jennifer Thornton (summer@da.org). They are happy to help!
